Recently, the national standard Quality Requirements for Resistance Welding of Metallic Materials — Part 2: Basic Quality Requirements was officially issued and implemented. Xi'an Aojie Electric Heating Equipment Engineering Co., Ltd. (Xi'an Aojie) participated in its development alongside Harbin Welding Institute Co., Ltd. of China Academy of Machinery Science and Technology Group and other research institutes and leading enterprises. The standardization project was assigned on August 6, 2023; the standard was published on May 30, 2025 and came into effect on December 1, 2025.

With the rapid development of the automotive, machining and electronics industries, resistance welding is being used more widely in civilian industry. Applications span automobiles, home appliances, aerospace, aviation, marine engineering, rail transport, green construction, energy storage, telecommunications, AI computing and data centers. The large volume and highly repetitive nature of resistance welding work require strict quality control. Before the quality requirements standard was implemented, quality control relied primarily on inspection after welding, an approach that could no longer meet current mass-production volumes and product acceptance requirements. Improving this series of standards helps replace fragmented management with comprehensive control at key quality checkpoints. More detailed requirements for traceability and complete quality records provide a unified framework for engineering applications of resistance welding of metals and help improve overall product quality and technical capability.

The standard specifies requirements concerning contracts and design, subcontracted engineering services, welding personnel, inspection and testing personnel, inspections and tests, equipment, and review records for resistance welding of metallic materials.

Resistance welding is widely used in China, with a very large volume of work and extensive upstream and downstream supply chains. However, there had been no applicable standard covering complete quality requirements for resistance-welding operations on metallic materials. Establishing general quality requirements provides consistent rules and practical implementation guidance, improves subcontracting, personnel qualification and project management, and supports healthy development across the industry chain. Compared with comprehensive quality requirements, certain provisions are simplified for batch production to improve management efficiency.

The development of this standard strengthens China's overall system of quality requirements for welding engineering. As one of the principal drafting organizations, Xi'an Aojie played an important role. Since the project began on August 6, 2023, an expert team led by Hu Enhao of Xi'an Aojie has participated extensively in research and drafting, working with researchers and industry representatives from leading organizations to improve the standardization framework. The project seeks to adopt ISO international standards, maintain alignment with the relevant standards and provide standards-based support for engineering applications of resistance welding of metallic materials in China.

Xi'an Aojie has long placed standardization at the strategic core of its development. In addition to complying with international, national and industry standards, the company actively participates in drafting, revising and promoting standards at different levels. Standardization is embedded throughout its operations, from product development and manufacturing to quality control and customer service. Through continued investment in a rigorous standards system, the company aims to improve product and service quality, promote industry practices and advance technology. This commitment underpins product quality and sustainable development and reflects Xi'an Aojie's responsibility as an industry leader.
